Favorite Driver to Race Against: Rick Aukland – The last couple years we have raced with him a lot and he is very competitive and always gives you room to race.
Favorite personal racing story: 2007 we were teamed up with a new person/sponsor. It seemed like at first things weren’t going well and we kept picking the wrong tires and weren’t getting the finishes we were used to. Then I was in contention to win one night at Hilltop and broke a drive shaft and the next night at Lakeville I started 6th and was up to 3rd early in the race. My car was really working good and I got turned into the wall and flipped a couple times and landed upside down. So I was out for the night. Then I was all geared up and excited for the Firecracker 4 Series that Wayne County and Lakeville were putting on. The first two events were rained out. I ended up winning both of the last two races for $4000 each, lapping more than half the field in both races. Then I came back to win the IRS event at Hilltop Speedway. After getting upside down I won three of my last 4 races. The funny thing is that my wife picked up two heads up pennies off the ground when she was shopping before the Lakeville race. She looked at our daughter and said “Emma these pennies are going to bring daddy good luck”. She’s had those pennies in her pocket at every race since.
Hard Luck Story: Leading 27 laps of a STARS/Renegade race at Raceway 7 and then breaking. It was especially heartbreaking since I had won two MACS series events there and never had won on a regular night.
